Van Gogh
The man who left a mark on post-impressionism

- 1853 - Vincent Willem van Gogh is born on March 30th, in the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands.
- 1860 - Is sent to school for the first time. His mother encourages him to draw.
- 1869 - Works at the art dealers Goupil & Cie in the Hague. Falls in love with Eugénie Loyer, but is rejected.
- 1876 - Returns to England and works as a supply teacher in a small boarding school and later at a bookshop.
- 1880 - Follows his brother Teo's advice to take up art, after failing becoming a pastor. He starts attending the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts.
- 1881 - Falls in love with Kee Vos-Stricker, but is not allowed to marry her. Becomes Anton Mauve's student and is introduced to watercolor.
- 1882 - Starts painting with oils and experimenting. Falls in love with Clasina Maria "Sien" Hoornik.
- 1883 - Moves to Nuenen and focuses on painting and drawing. For the next two years he paints nearly 200 paintings, several still lifes and watercolors.
- 1886 - Living poorly in Antwerp, he keeps painting, incorporating new colors and styles. He's hospitalized and starts studying at the Academy of Fine Arts after getting better, but gets into trouble with instructors over artistic matters and has to repeat a year. He then moves to Paris.
